So, where do all of these jokes come from?
Frankly, I really don't know. One of the oldest written jokes can be
traced back to hieroglyphics on the wall of an ancient pharaoh's tomb,

How many pyramid workers does it take to change a light bulb?

Answer:
|
None. Light bulbs haven't been invented yet.

The quality was somewhat lacking, which may have explained the
untimely death of ancient joke tellers. But the idea was there. Jokes,
over time, have been general variations on older jokes. And so many
have been told so many times in so many ways that there's hardly a new
joke every decade or so.
But, back to the issue at hand. Where did I get these jokes? The
answer is . . . I still don't know. These are my own variations of jokes I
have heard, read or even feigned to believe that I made up. I do not
really expect to create a brand new joke. Instead, my hope is that, perhaps, I
can retell one that is old enough that it might seem new to someone.
